Zeren Earls, First Night Boston Founding MemberZeren Earls
Turkish-born Zeren Earls helped create Boston’s acclaimed First Night celebration. In her stint as President and Artistic Director from 1980-1994, First Night became a nationally-recognized institution with over 1 million participants in Boston each New Year’s eve. Come salute Earls for her inspiring contribution to our community!

 

 

 


Edina Skaljic, Community OrganizerEdina Skaljic

Edina spent several of her childhood years in refugee camps across Bosnia. After immigrating to Boston in 2000, she became an active voice for human rights causes on campus at the American International College and Simmons, organizing numerous events to raise awareness about genocide, landmines, and other issues. She serves as Secretary of England Friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an organization helping to rebuild her homeland and mobilize Boston’s Bosnian community, and is one of the driving forces behind bringng the "Bosnian Born" art exhibition to the AIC Center. 

 

 

Mohamad Al Bardan, Syrian Student ActivistMohamad Al Bardan

Today a student Northeastern, Mohamad recently fled to Boston from Damascus. Come learn about his remarkable covert campaign to provide moral support during the Syrian uprising by delivering inspiring text messages and uplifting voicemails to over one million people across Syria.

You’ve seen him on SNL and Comedy Central. Now enjoy an intimate evening with one of America’s leading comedians. Obeidallah turns his wry wit on current events and ethnic stereotypes for hilarious and insightful comedy. 





The Jussi Reijonen: Un QuintetJussi Reijonen

Acclaimed Finnish oudist Jussi Reijonen mastered his art in Lebanon and has now assembled some of Boston's best for a new quintet. Hear a unique jazz/folk/world fusion featuring Utar Artun, Tareq Rantisi and more.
